My Journey

What started your interest in Yoga?

I spent years exploring different styles of yoga and different spiritual paths to find the one that resonated the most with me and coincidentally kundalini yoga was the last form that I tried but after the first class I knew I had found what I was looking for. It had all the elements I was seeking… something for mind, body and soul. I found it challenging, relaxing and extremely effective from day one. I cried, laughed and fell deeply in love with it from day one.

It felt like ‘coming home’

What informs your teaching/practice now?

After eight years of teaching I am now on the path to becoming a teacher trainer. Learning how to teach makes you revisit the teachings again from the beginning but through different eyes. It’s tremendously rewarding to reignite the flames of passion I felt at the start of my journey. The great thing about kundalini is that it never gives you the ‘T-shirt’. It’s a continual, ongoing journey where you never stop learning. I think this is one of the best things about it. It doesn’t allow for complacency, it keeps pushing you further and deeper in the quest for enlightenment as it peels back the layers to reveal your most authentic self.

Three words to describe how students experience you as a teacher?

Empowering

Nurturing

Inspirational

How would you describe your class?

My classes are dynamic, mystical, spiritual and transformational. They involve lots of sound healing wrapped up in a delicious blend of movement meditation and mantra.

How are the classes different?

Each class is different every time as the kundalini technology is so vast. There is something for everyone so it’s always good to try a few classes before making any assessments.

Do I need any experience?

All are welcome and encouraged to attend no matter what your experience or capabilities. Although it can be both physically and mentally challengingly each student just does the best they can . All corrections are verbal so the student is fully in control of how deep they wish to go. It has been said that one year of kundalini yoga is the equivalent to eleven years of Hatha, hence why it is called a Raj (king) yoga. It’s a profound practice that works on the mind, body and spirit to bring the student to their highest possible vibration and optimum state of health and vitality.

What do you hope to provide for your students in your class?

I always aim to deliver the teachings in the purest way possible as taught by Yogi Bhajan who is the master of this technology. I stick to the teachings meticulously as the more true you are to these teachings the more effective they are for the student. I create a safe and sacred space for healing and transformation to occur.

How do students feel when they leave at the end of your class?

Moved, uplifted, inspired, and energetically different from when they entered the space. I always make myself available for questions and compassion at the end of class. The technology can move energy around very powerfully and can leave the student a little emotional, wobbly or anything other than ‘normal’ so It’s important to be available for hugs and love to help integrate the experience after the session.
